Last week this website lost its soul.
James B. (Jim) Hamel, co-founder of www.infotainmentexperts.com has died. Following challenges with his equilibrium and head pain – all of which he tackled with great humor – Jim underwent brain surgery to relieve pressure. It was not successful and he joined his father, Art, who passed just days before Jim joined him.
It’s very difficult to write about someone as vibrant, talented and empowering as Jim was towards everyone around him. While harboring his own difficulties, physical, emotional, mental, he went out of his way to make sure everyone in his midst was propped up, successful and engaged in activities that would make them better.
Jim had writing talent beyond belief. His words resonated with anyone that read them. His joy with the automotive universe and its many mysteries are conveyed on pages, virtual and physical, to entice any reader’s interest. His love of the motoring world couldn’t be contained. Heck, Jim couldn’t really be contained as he spread his love of automobilia.
And dogs. Specifically boxer pups with health or age issues. Jim knew he wasn’t perfect and he reveled in having the boxer pups that most needed his love and care. His most recent sweet companion, Gypsy, has a bum rear leg but it never stops her from bounding and bonding with anyone in sight.
Just like her caretaker, Gypsy has unlimited love and enthusiasm for life. Due to her disability (humans might think she’s disabled but, like so many dogs Gypsy doesn’t know she’s different – she just wants to give unquestioned love), with Jim gone it’s been difficult to find a loving home for her. There aren’t that many James B. Hamel’s out there in this world.
When Jim crossed his own rainbow bridge, he left behind people who loved him unconditionally, this writer included. We couldn’t always see his flaws because his outsize personality conquered them. Daily. We could only see the love, enthusiasm, care, consideration and great, skilled talent in this larger-than-life creature that inhabited our lives.
And now he’s gone. Death is always most difficult for those left behind. James B. Hamel has found the peace he longed for and we’re left to pray for his comfort in the great beyond. So long as his work is on this website, so long as his smile leaps from the page, so long as we hold him near and dear to our hearts, he lives.
We pray, as well, for Gypsy, now needing the love that enriched her time with Jim. Boxer Rescue LA is looking for her next sojourn: https://www.boxer-rescue-la.com/dogs/gypsy_june17.html and this is posted in the hope that there is another James B. Hamel out there just wanting to to make this boxer’s life as joyous as he did. Donations in his name may be made to the site; we just know he’d be overjoyed to see his love for boxer pups in need come to fruition through the love of his friends.
Thank you, Jim, for enriching our lives.
